Concord. A Bold Renewal.

Concord is returning to the centre of the watch-making stage by redefining itself with a bold new philosophy, aggressive positioning and innovative, unexpected product design. Backed by the MGI Luxury Group and invigorated by an enthusiastic new team, the brand is undertaking a bold new repositioning strategy. A new face is giving clear expression to Concord's personality and ambitions: to affirm its legitimacy in the high-end watch segment, while adopting an original approach. Following a comprehensive makeover, Concord embraces a sharp new identity, derived from its roots and traditions - bringing its own unique, edgy dimension to the international watch-making sphere. The metamorphosis reveals a brand with a clear-cut and uncompromising character. Pursuing an innovative strategy, Concord is significantly upgrading its collection while capitalizing on its distinctive assets. The brand demonstrates its know-how in the construction of exceptionally complex cases and, through its focus on quality, sets strict standards that govern each step of the conception and manufacturing processes. Moreover, this relentless passion for reliability and technology is further enriched by useful watch-making complications and highly innovative, ambitious design that is fresh, bold and highly unexpected. Concord watches embody cutting-edge technology - each execution is based on an original and demanding approach: watch design process has been stripped down, taken entirely apart so that each of its elements and components can be rethought in its own right. On the eve of the brand's 100th anniversary - Concord is cultivating uniqueness, reinventing performance and making exclusivity a principle.

C1 Chronograph - The Watch. Reconstructed

The COSC-certified Concord C1 Chronograph marks the launch of a truly new construction born of an unusually sophisticated concept drawn from advanced technological research and innovation. This powerful timepiece asserts its exceptional personality through an ambitious watch case 44 mm in diameter and 16.7 mm from front to back ' a study in sturdiness at its best. Assembled to absorb and dampen blows and jarring, 53 components make up a case water-resistant to a pressure of 20 ATM. A rubber-coated protective metal ring featuring eight decorative tabs that extend over the bezel, is fitted over the middle case and secured by seven self-blocking side screws. The system protects an impressive, 3.3. mm-thick anti-reflective sapphire crystal that seems to emerge from the case. The setting crown is composed of steel, rubber and composite materials, enduringly interlocked for greater compactness and resistance. A raised C1 logo on the rubber end-piece adds a final touch to the design. The case's open case back reveals the watch's self-winding movement, which runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers 48 hours of power reserve. Finished in black rhodium for dramatic contrast, the oscillating weight achieves an assertive elegance with its cut-out of the C1 logo silhouetted through a ribbed Côtes de Genéve decorative pattern executed in the finest horological tradition. Made of carbon fiber and finely milled metal, the dial is a complex multilevel creation designed to accentuate visual depth and perspective. Enhanced with black trim and luminescent material, the hour and minute hands sweep over a dial rimmed with hollowed-out markers filled with a luminescent compound. As the hands' asymmetrical cut-outs create a play of forces on the center axis, fitting and poising them requires exceptionally deft hands. At 9 o'clock, the ingeniously engineered running seconds subdial features a rotating disk barely 0.1 mm thick. At 3 o'clock, the date seems to fade in and out of the dial aperture. The 30-minute and 12-hour counters are positioned at 12 and at 6 o'clock respectively. Finally, the first quarter of the minute circle is color-matched to the sweep seconds hand's vibrant Concord blue color. With its velvety matte finish, the C1's vulcanized rubber strap features titanium end-pieces that secure it to the case by two pairs of self-blocking screws. Devoid of case horns, a world-first in chronograph design, the C1's strap-to-case attachments ensure a comfortable wrist-hugging fit. Custom-made for Concord, the strap's double deployment clasp features the brand's engraved logo. The C1 chronograph is alternately offered equipped with a stainless steel bracelet connected to the case by an original articulated link system. The C1 owes its instant visual appeal to the play of light on its volumes and textures. Brush- or satin-finished and gloss-polished surfaces along with chamfered angles and edges demonstrate the designers' inspired sense of style. Each and every element is finished and decorated as part of a harmoniously balanced composition : brush-finished flange and bezel, vertically satin-finished middle case, shot-blasted case-back and hands, snail pattern and Côtes de Genéve ribbing on the rotor, mirror-polished screw heads and clasp - each a unique styling touch, collectively giving an outstanding timepiece its exceptional character.

Making of the C1 Advertising Campaign

Concord is running an advertising campaign derived directly from the repositioning strategy it outlined at the 2007 Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show. The campaign is purposefully designed to consolidate Concord's new brand identity and to promote the assertive personality of its designs. Shot by the reputed photographer Russell Porcas, the COSC-certified C1 chronograph clearly radiates a magnetic personality in an intensely masculine atmosphere. Light and shadow play over the watch's features, accentuating the technical excellence of its construction. "The Watch. Reconstructed." theme line reflects Concord's original, demanding approach to design and construction. The watch was stripped down and entirely deconstructed so that every part and component could be totally reconsidered from a perspective of reliability and sturdiness. The exercise went even further. Logical, methodical and exacting, the basic premise behind each design was born on a Cambridge University blackboard where a professor of mathematical science developed a unique algebraic formula encompassing the variables of the new chronograph's specifications: case diameter and thickness, number of side screws, dimensions of the sapphire crystal and more. Taken together, the data produced an equation that served as the very matrix of the C1 chronograph. It also contains the genes of Concord's identity. Featuring a battery of "What other watch has..." questions, the new ad copy reflects the ambitions behind the C1's market drive as it challenges the established order at the upper end of the market, reinterpreting the chronograph's own visual codes. 3.3 mm-thick sapphire crystal, 7 side screws, three-level dial and 16.7 mm-thick case composed of 53 components - all these and other elements make the Concord C1 an innovative out-performer. Created by the London communication agency Spirit, Concord's "The Watch. Reconstructed." campaign will debut worldwide in late October 2007. It will initially appear in trade publications in a bid to introduce the C1 and its novel design to connoisseurs and collectors of fine timepieces and aficionados of Haute Horlogerie.

Concord introduces the C1 QuantumGravity

Switzerland - January 2009 An aerial bi-axial tourbillon mechanism. A vertical power reserve. Individualist seconds. A stripped-down dial and spectacular volumes: the latest specimen from the C Lab Series defies all theories. Even better, it creates its own rules: emptiness is its core material, engineering its constancy; chemistry a dare and transparency a must. Prophetic, its construction created in record time propels Concord into a parallel world where intuition is a favored ally and its design and mechanics a harbinger for the future of watchmaking. Go to www.c1-quantum.ch to find out about how this exceptional timepiece, in a limited edition of 10, was created.

Introduction of Concord in Germany

Munich, February 5th 2009 The Crème de la crème of German trade press gathered for Concord’s very first introduction in Germany at the renowned Schuhbeck’s Kochschule in Munich. They followed an exclusive invitation of Concord’s President, Vincent Perriard, and Marketing & Sales Director, Stefan Feltgen, to share the concept and product-development of the innovative brand as well as the distribution and marketing-strategy for Germany. Cookery Course Prior to the Concord presentation – a cookery course by Alfons Schuhbeck, one of Germany’s most prominent and charismatic chefs took place. Outfitted with aprons – the course could start: Excellent ingredients are the basis for a successful recipe! This was one of the first rules that all guests learned. Some of the attendees emerged as very active “students” of the evening. But not only the guests gained interesting knowledge from Alfons Schuhbeck – as a watch-connoisseur the chef himself was also eager to learn about Concord’s collection-highlights and listened carefully to Vincent Perriard and Stefan Feltgen. Watch course As next course on the menu was Concord’s “watch course”. Vincent Perriard introduced the brand in a very straight and clear way. One of the highlights was the “touch and feel” of the unusual timepieces. Especially the C1 Gravity Tourbillon caught the interest of the experts. The first steps on German grounds have been made – Others will follow.

The Red Party

Toronto, 18 March 2009 The Red Party. One of many fundraising efforts that the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club has been hosting since 1995, all dedicated to the Raptors Foundation for Kids. Concord’s collaboration with the Raptors Foundation for Kids started when Bryan Colangelo, President and General Manager of the Toronto Raptors and Vincent Perriard, President of Concord, met for the first time in Madrid in 2007. Both presidents immediately realized that they shared the same passion for watches, but first and foremost, that they shared the same goals and challenges, one in the re-launch of a basketball team, the other in the re-launch of a watch brand. Bryan and Vincent decided to put their heads together and create a special and unique watch under the Concord Champions Series. A limited and numbered edition of the C1 WorldTimer, called “Toronto Black”, dedicated to the Raptors Foundation for Kids. The Toronto Black Series was launched at the Red Party event in Toronto, where the very first timepiece of the series was offered in a raffle, all proceeds of the tickets going to the Toronto Raptors Foundation for Kids. Amongst the 600 guests, were Concord’s very first Ambassador, Bryan Colangelo, Toronto Raptors Captain Chris Bosh and Coach Jay Triano. The 20 numbered “Toronto Black” timepieces are available only at Classic Creations in Toronto.

Baselworld 2009

Switzerland, March 26th to April 2nd 2009 During the latest edition of the International Watch & Jewelry Fair, Concord presented its new C1 creations, amongst which a new 40mm chronograph in 3 different versions, extensions of the 44mm Chronograph collection, 3 models of the C1 WorldTimer, two Biretrograde in limited editions and a Retrograde date in Titanium. But the great novelty was without doubt the C1 QuantumGravity. This ultimate creation from the c lab series was qualified by many as the “talking piece” of the show and generated a lot of positive buzz around the brand. An aerial bi-axial tourbillon mechanism. A vertical power reserve. Individualist seconds. A stripped-down dial and spectacular volumes: the latest specimen from the C Lab Series defies all theories. Even better, it creates its own rules: emptiness is its core material, engineering its constancy; chemistry a dare and transparency a must.  The result: a new species of watch that lives time as if it were an experiment and space, a source of stimulation. The creation of the C1 QuantumGravity constitutes a provocative act in itself, while its construction is an exploration carried out at the brink of excess and defiance.

Concord & Club Chronos in Paris

Paris, 6 April 2009 Concord presented their 2009 novelties and especially the C1 QuantumGravity, one of the most exciting pieces of Baselworld 2009, to a small and selective group of watch enthusiasts and members of the “Club Chronos” in Paris. Mr. Matthias Buttet, CEO of BNB-Concept, Concord’s partner in the creation of the C1 QuantumGravity, gave an enlightening speech on this phenomenal timepiece.
